Sunnen-Hoffmann is one of those producers that makes you rethink your assumptions about where great sparkling wine can come from. Based in Remerschen, in the village of Schengen on the Luxembourg Moselle, this family estate has been making wine since 1872, making it one of the oldest continually operated family wineries in the country.
Six generations later, it is now managed by Marie Kox, our youngest winemaker. She is carrying forward a legacy built by Anton Sunnen over 150 years ago. The estate covers roughly 9 hectares planted with Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Pinot Noir, and Grauburgunder, a diverse palette that allows for expressive and varied Crémant production.
What makes Sunnen-Hoffmann truly remarkable is its pioneering role in sustainable viticulture: it became the first organic winery in the Luxembourg Moselle Valley in 2001, and moved to biodynamic farming in 2011. That is not a marketing decision; it is a deeply held philosophy that runs through five generations of family winemaking and shapes every aspect of the estate.

Biodynamic Bubbles from Schengen
The Crémant de Luxembourg range at Sunnen-Hoffmann reflects the diverse terroir of the Remerschen vineyards and the family's deep understanding of their land. Southern-facing slopes on clayey soils with limestone influence produce grapes of excellent ripeness and concentration, while the unique microclimate created by the Remerschen lakes and the wide Moselle Valley adds freshness and aromatic complexity.
The Cuvée L et F Brut is the house benchmark: bright, mineral, and elegant, with the kind of fine bead that signals careful méthode traditionnelle production and patient lees aging. The Blanc de Noir offers a different expression entirely, drawing on Pinot Noir for a richer, more structured style with red-fruit undertones and savoury depth.
